Job Listing – Manning Publications – Digital Marketing Manager

Manning Publications is looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to join our team. We’ve been publishing books that teach technical topics to software professionals for over two decades, and we believe our books and videos are the best in the business. We’re looking for a marketing manager who can lead the promotions of our uniquely valuable products to developers, administrators, and other IT pros around the globe. That’s where you come in! You’ll be responsible for developing, initiating, creating and overseeing a long-term digital marketing campaign as well as spearheading short-term advertising and marketing solutions. We require a marketer experienced in copywriting, direct mail, online advertising, art direction, SEO/analytics, social media and the management of successful campaigns who can expand our brand’s reach while increasing brand loyalty and awareness.

We have an active direct email program (powered by Listrak) that drives a large share of our web sales, and we advertise and promote in the usual places: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Google Ads, and more. We run an e-commerce site at manning.com and several WordPress-powered blogs. We utilize third-party tools such as Shopper Approved, ConvertCart, and PostAffiliatePro, and we use Google Analytics to track it all. Our authors wear t-shirts that we print at conferences (which we sometimes sponsor) and they record interviews for podcasts for us. We do special publications for tech companies. And of course, we have traditional book distribution partners around the world. All this and more.

In short, we’ve got a lot of irons in the fire, and we need a marketing manager with the know-how to improve and expand the effectiveness of our campaigns and increase the coherence of all these initiatives to help us grow even further. If you have prior experience in marketing technical products, particularly software products, experience with subscription-based products, or a background in computer science, even better.

Skills and abilities you’ll need

  • 5+ years of proven expertise in email marketing, SEO, digital advertising, creative campaign development, content marketing, lead generation, and conversion optimization with website and marketing programs
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics, Tag Manager, AdWords, WordPress and other marketing tools
  • Excellent grasp of social media and website metrics and best practices
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing
  • Self-starter able to multi-task and ready to work in a fast-paced, remote environment
  • Excellent writing skills (We want to see samples!)
  • A sense of humor
